Committed / Loving / Firm

GROWING UP:  I was born in Modesto, CA and I grew up in LA. I was educated in a perochial school, Transfiguration Elementary and Loyola High School. I attended UCLA and received a B.A. in Psychology.

CURRENT GIG:  I own an IT company. We do infrastructure wiring and cabling for voice data and wireless systems. I consult on technology convergence and innovation. I am also currently the President of the UCLA Black Alumni Association. Before becoming the President of the UCLA Black Alumni Association, I was the VP of Operations for 3 yrs. I Belong to Kappa Alpha Si and became the Undergraduate Chapter President then the Graduate Chapter President.

EXPERIENCES WITH RACE:  When I was at UCLA I had a TA who gave me a C- on a paper, which I believe, was based on my being black. I believed he didn’t even read it. I re-submitted a clean copy to the professor to see what he had to say since I knew I hit the requirements for the paper. He gave me a B+. I realized it is important for me to not only do the work but stand up for the work I do so I can exceed expectations.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I enjoy working with people and giving back. I have volunteered for over 30 yrs with A Man for Others.  I also coach student athletes in football, basketball and baseball.  I am extremely proud of my daughter who just graduated from Medical School and is doing her residency in OBGYN at LSU. She attended Marlborough High School in Los Angeles, then went on to get a Bio Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She was the only engineer at Howard Medical School. She will do great things.
